Any woman will tell you that it’s not just the outfit itself that’s important.
It’s how you accessorise it.
The little touches matter when you’re trying to create an amazing ensemble. And this is what you need to know when it comes to accessorising.
Choosing the Right Earrings
Let’s say you’re going to a formal event. You’re dressed modestly and your Abaya doesn’t have a lot of colour to it.
That’s okay. You can inject a little bit of glamour with your earring choices. If you’re wearing muted colours, consider wearing statement earrings that really make the outfit pop. That doesn’t necessarily mean wearing huge hoops, unless that’s your thing. Instead, just consider what you could wear to add a little something extra to an otherwise muted outfit.
Of course, the opposite holds true if you’re wearing something bold and glamorous. In this case, the outfit itself takes centre stage, so go for more elegant earrings to complement it.
Remember the Scale
How much you accessorise really depends on the scale of the outfit.
What we mean here is that if you’re wearing an outfit that has a lot of volume, you don’t need to accessorise quite so much. The outfit itself does a lot of heavy lifting, so keep the accessories minimalistic to allow it to really shine.
However, if you’re wearing something that’s a little sleeker, you can go for bigger accessories. For example, a chunk ring or large handbag work especially well with such outfits. It’s all about contrasting and complementing.
Consider Cinching the Waist
This is a great tip if you’re struggling to find a compromise between modest and form-fitting clothing. You may not feel especially comfortable wearing a slim fit garment. But you may also feel that a regular fit doesn’t quite match your figure.
Cinch the waist.
An elegant belt can work wonders here. A wide belt over a flowing Abaya looks amazing here. Or, you can use your belt to add a dash of colour if you’re wearing pure white or black.
Don’t Overdo it
Accessories are a good thing.
But you know the old saying about having too much of a good thing, right? If you overdo it with the accessories, they start to lose their power. They won’t have as much of an impact on the outfit as each accessory gets lost amongst all of the others.
Let’s come back to the statement earrings as an example.
If you’re wearing a pair of those, you don’t need huge bangles, thick rings, and any other bold accessories. The earrings are the centrepiece so any other accessories should subtly complement them rather than try to pull the attention away from them.
As a general rule of thumb, go for one or two main accessories. Any others should be much more subtle.
Of course, accessorising is just one part of creating the perfect outfit. You need the outfit itself too. That’s where Anaya Clothing can help. Why not browse our amazing catalogue of modest wear to find something that suits you?
